Biography

Professor Dr. Mert Ülgen, had graduated from Istanbul İ.T.İ.A.  Faculty of Pharmacy Sciences in 1981. In 1984, he started working in Marmara University, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry as a research assistant. In 1987, he completed his master's degree in the same department. In 1992, he became Ph.D. from the Pharmacy Department of Chelsea, King's College, University of London. He became Assistant Professor in 1992, Associate Professor in 1993 and Professor in 1999 in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Marmara University. He held various administrative positions at Marmara University Faculty of Pharmacy and retired from this institution in 2009.


In 2009, Prof. Dr. Mert Ülgen was appointed to the  Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Vocational School of Health Services. He gave chemistry lectures at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar  University Faculty of Medicine and Vocational School of Health Services. Between 2010-2013, he worked as the Director of Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Continuing Education Center and between 2013-2016 he was the director of Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Institute of Health Sciences. In 2016, he was appointed as the founding dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University and transferred to the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Professor Dr. Mert Ülgen is currently the Dean of Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University Faculty of Pharmacy. Since 2011, he has been directing the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Industry Management at the Institute of Health Sciences of Acıbadem Mehmet Ali aydınlar University.


Professor Dr. Mert Ülgen has numerous national and international studies on in vitro drug metabolism. He has directed numerous master's and doctoral theses. The main study is the synthesis of model compounds, drugs and metabolites and their in vitro microsomal metabolism.
