Erman Aytac, MD, FTBS completed elementary and middle school education at his hometown Saray, Tekirdag, Turkey. He graduated from the Kabatas High School in 2000 at Istanbul, Turkey. He completed his medical school and general surgery residency in 2012 at Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty in Istanbul Turkey. He completed his research-clinical research and clinical fellowship at the Department of Colorectal Surgery, Digestive Disease Institute Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, United States. Dr. Aytac has been primary investigator or co investigator in numerous national or international research studies which were awarded by the Eczacıbaşı Scientific Research and Medical Award Fund, Turkish Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Turkish Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Association, National Endocrine Surgery Society, American Collage of Surgeons. He worked as a general secretary in the Residents’ Commission of the Turkish Surgical Society and representative of the Residents’ Commission at the European Union of Medical Specialists. Dr. Aytac served as a member of organizing committees, chairman, invited speaker or presenter in numerous national and international medical/surgical meetings. He has been working as editorial board member or reviewer in numerous prestigious journals. He is a member of research committee at the European Society of Coloproctology and a member of education committee at the International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons. His professional interests are gastrointestinal neoplasms, colorectal diseases, emergency surgery, complex re-operative abdominopelvic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, endoscopic surgery, experimental surgery, database management, fund raising, health care management, surgical education, medical education and ethics.
