Özet

Congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA) is a rare sensory neuropathy, which affects patients' pain sensation and thermoregulation. There are several issues to consider when planning anesthesia for those with this congenital disorder. Over a year period, two patients with CIPA underwent 4 surgical procedures under general anesthesia in our institution. In our cases, no excessive fluctuations in temperature were noted throughout the stay in theatre. In order to maintain hemodynamic stability anesthesia was required. We reviewed anesthesia records of the patients for anesthetic technique and incidence of side-effects. We conclude that patients with CIPA are able to undergo surgical procedures under general anesthesia without major problems.
