Abstract

Purpose – It is important that employees experience job satisfaction (JS) in order for organizations to attain competitive advantages and remain successful. This study was undertaken with the aim of revealing the mediating role of organizational identification (OI) in the effects of person–organization (P–O) fit on JS. Design/methodology/approach – The study was conducted in Istanbul, Türkiye, from April 15, 2022, to June 30, 2023. The study data were obtained from employees of private hospitals and a total of 260 questionnaires were collected. Findings – Accordingly, it was found that P–O fit positively affected OI, while P–O fit and OI positively affected JS. Furthermore, OI had a mediating role in the effect of P–O fit on JS. Originality/value – The present study is valuable in terms of revealing the mediating role of OI in the effect of P–O fit on JS in private hospitals.
