Investigation of stock management gaming experiments and alternative ordering formulations are discussed. The gaming experiments were designed to test the effect of different patterns of customer demand, minimum possible order decision interval and type of receiving delay on the decision-making behaviour. The performance of subjects was compared against some selected ordering heuristics for the alternative ordering formulations. It was concluded that non-linear ordering rules were more prone to instability even if the supply line was taken into account.
