The present study reports the isolation of two megastigmane glycosides, premnaionoside (1), and salvionoside B (2), an aliphatic alcohol glycoside, (3R)-1-octen-3-ol-3-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 -> 6)-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (3), a flavonoid, kaempferol 3,7,4'-trimethyl ether (4), two hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives, rosmarinic acid 5) and 3-O-methyl-rosmarinic acid (6) as well as sucrose from the aerial parts of Salvia dichroantha. This is the first report on the occurrence of compounds 1, 3 and 4 in the genus Salvia while 1 is being reported for the first time from Lamiaceae. This work also represents the first phytochemical work on the aerial parts of S. dichroantha which is endemic to Turkey. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
