The present study had been planned as a descriptive and correlation research study in order to determine the self concept of the children between the ages of 12-15 in Istanbul. The research had been done on the students who have been educated in the 6., 7. And 8. classes of the primary schools of Ministry of Education Kagithane District Directorate of Education. The samples of the research were 222 children obtaining the research criteria, who have been educated in 4 primary schools selected in lots among the schools of Kagithane District Directorate of Education The students were given both question airres describing themselves and Self Concept Scale in Children of Piers Harris. To evaluate the data; those methods were used; arithmatic average, standard deviation, freguency, percentage examine, student t-test, one way analisis of varience (ANOVA), chi square method, It was found that, sexuality, achievement level, health troubles, state of the parents (living togetter or seperated), having step- parents are supposed to be effective on childrens self concept; and also Self Concept Scale in Children of Piers Harris Children points (X = 57.43 +/- 10.58) and "Behaviour and adaptation" sub group points (X = 11.50 +/- 2.72) are found as maximum.
