In recent years, there has been an increase in the infections caused by multiple antibiotic resistant microorganisms. It has been observed that paying less attention to disinfection, antisepsis and sterilization and disregarding the procedures play an important role in the increase. It is noted that bacteria, as in the case of antibiotics, have developed intrinsic and acquired resistance to disinfectants. Unnecessary and under proposing concentration usage of antisepsis and disinfection substances accelerates the process of resistance to these substances. In this review, general information on disinfectants and antiseptics is given and the latest developments in application methods are evaluated.
