Patoloji biliminin olmazsa olmazı makroskopik bilgidir. Bu bilgiye ulaşmanın, merkezi sinir sistemi pratiğinde en önemli yollarından birisi radyolojidir. Özellikle manyetik rezonans görüntülemeden (MRG) lezyon hakkında elde edilen bilgiler, nöropatoloğun ayırıcı tanısını kolaylaştıracak ve tanı doğruluğunu arttıracaktır. MRG'nin hücresel düzeyde aktiviteyi değerlendirme, metabolik değişiklikleri gösterme ve kanlanmaya dair yorum yapma şansı vermesi önemlidir. Nöropatoloğun işine yarayacak, MRG ile ilgili temel terimler bu bölüm içerisinde yer almaktadır. Bu sayede radyolojik ve histolojik korelasyon, nöropatoloğun işini kolaylaştıracaktır.
The indispensable aspect of pathology is macroscopic information. In the central nervous system, the most feasible source of this information is through radiology. Particularly, the information obtained from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will facilitate the differential diagnosis of the neuropathologist and increase diagnostic accuracy. The ability of the MRI, provide insights into cellular-level activity, metabolic changes, and perfusion of the lesion. This section includes basic terms related to MRI that will be useful for the neuropathologist. In this way, radiological and histological correlation will make the neuropathologist's job easier.
