Descriptive Classification of Frontal Hairline Patterns Derived from Caucasian Male Celebrities

Özet
Objective: The design of the frontal hairline contour is one of the most critical determinants of achieving natural, aesthetically harmonious outcomes in hair restoration surgery. This descriptive observational study aimed to identify and classify naturally occurring frontal hairline contour patterns observed in male celebrities with minimal or no hair loss.
Methods and Materials: A total of 148 Caucasian male celebrities with Norwood type I–II hair patterns were evaluated using standardized frontal-view photographs obtained from publicly accessible media sources. Images demonstrating clearly visible natural hairlines were analyzed through visual morphological assessment, focusing on overall contour configuration and the course of the frontal hairline arms toward the frontotemporal angles.
Results: Six distinct frontal hairline contour types were identified: flat slightly rounded, flat rounded, flat, rounded flared, V-flared, and reverse flat slightly rounded (female-type). The most common pattern was the Vflared type (52%), followed by rounded flared (16.9%), flat slightly rounded (13.5%), flat rounded (10.1%), flat (5.4%), and reverse flat slightly rounded (2.0%).
Conclusion: The proposed classification describes recognizable variations of naturally occurring male frontal hairline contours and may serve as a supportive visual reference for patient education, surgeon–patient communication, and individualized preoperative hairline planning rather than as a prescriptive surgical guideline.
