Pelvic floor dysfunction refers to a condition where the
muscles, ligaments and comnnective tissues (eg. fascia) in the pelvic
region do not functions properly) Pelvic floor dysfunction can lead
to issues with bowel and bladder control, pelvic pain, pelvic organ
prolapse (descent of the uterus or other pelvic organs) and sexual
discomfort which all these can significantly and negatively impact
woman’s quality of life. Moreover, pelvic floor disorders (PFD) cause embarassment and anxiety feelings in women who suffer
silently from them and lead to being asocial, absenteeism from work
and reduce participation in family/friend gatherings or any kind of
leisure activities (travelling, swimming, jogging etc). Symptoms
such as pelvic pain, urinary or fecal/anal incontinence or defecation
or urination difficulties, pelvic organ prolapse and dysparonia can
have both physical and emotioanal consequences, affecting the daily
activities, relationships and overall well-being.
