Özet

In conclusion, this study evaluated the prevalence of AR in subjects undergoing THA before40 years of age. One in three patients in this population had AR compared with the historical one-in-six ratio of the OA patients stated by previous studies. AR seems to be a common, yet underrecognized, anomaly that may increase the risk of developing hip OA over time. Under-standing and searching for this pathoanatomical and pathomechanical variant is important when evaluating young patients with hip pain. Further-more, these findings have important applicability during preoperative planning for THA in younger populations to achieve adequate soft tissue tension and avoid impingement. Prospective studies with longitudinal data that can pro-vide evidence of the causal relationship between AR and OA development are warranted.
