Özet

The Sisli Etfal Hospital series of congenital lobar empysema (CLE) consists of six patients, all treated surgically since 1987. The majority (2/3) of these patients were referred by pediatricians as pneumothoracis. Standard treatment for these patients at our institution is a lobectomy. Recovery has been gratifying in 5 of these cases. One patient died of subsequent pneumonitis and sepsis. Morbidity appears to be diminished in the surgically treated cases, compared with the conservative approach reported in the literature.
