The continual advancements in the treatment of soft tissue sarcomas have led to a rise in limb-sparing surgery which includes resection with negative (safe) margins. These surgeries emphasize the necessity of effectively mitigating potential complications to enhance patient outcomes. This chapter provides an in-depth examination of how surgeons can prevent, anticipate, and address complications by utilizing a systematic, data-driven approach that incorporates analyses of chronological, treatment stage-related, and severity metrics. Key focal points include a comprehensive approach involving effective surgical techniques, careful radiotherapy planning, and utilization of advanced wound care strategies, including VAC and local/free flap application. These factors play an integral role in improving treatment outcomes and quality of life in patients with soft tissue sarcomas.
