Proje Özeti

Menopause (Mp) hallmarks the end of the reproductive age in women. The progressive lack of
estrogens has been associated with physical and mental defects, such as vasomotor symptoms,
sleep disturbances, metabolic complications, urogenital disorders and psychological burden.
The Mp population is increasing, in parallel with the need for the management of the resulting
complications. As women will spend ? of their lives in Mp, they need to be mentally and
physically able for work for longer periods. Besides, Mp has an impact on family and social
environment. Therefore, women in Mp need diagnostic and treatment services, both for
managing short-term disturbing symptoms, and for preventing possible long-term complications.
Mp treatment consists of lifestyle intervention and medications, such as Menopausal Hormone
Therapy. However, who needs and who will benefit from which intervention is obscured by the
wide heterogeneity of clinical symptoms, their intensity and duration, and many confounding
factors. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to act towards systematizing this heterogeneity
and building personalized treatment approaches, to support clinicians and patients in better
managing Mp and its complications.
MAUVE will develop a system that will help in individualizing medication and lifestyle
interventions for the management of Mp complications. The project aims to construct:
A. A digital platform that will allow monitoring daily activities (sleep, physical exercise, diet,
stress), acquiring objective measurements and link them with the clinical picture and
disease biomarkers.
B. A dashboard that will illustrate in a comprehensive, visual manner the Mp status and the
“vulnerability fingerprint” of a patient, facilitating treatment decision-support for both
the clinician and the patient.
A predictive / prescriptive model for the short and long-term finetuning of lifestyle interventions
and treatment, based on the inferred personalized “fingerprint”.
